Kaori is an introverted character. She tends to stay quiet and enjoys being unnoticed and in the background. She typically prefers to avoid arguing, often shutting off the conversation when she dubs it too heated, as she sees no point in beating a dead horse. This, however, leads her to have an inability to stand up for herself. She is a perfectionist and has had nights where she cries herself to sleep due to a single, trivial mistake. Kaori is a terrible liar, often leading to her being brutally honest about her opinions. She is also very slow on decision making and has strong dislike for impromptu decision making, preferring a well organized plan. Kaori is fairly intelligent, recognizing her strengths and weaknesses, but does enjoy creative outlets greatly. She is calm in most situations, which can be unnerving for some, as they do not have the same level of peace she has. She is not very into relationships, as she feels that they can cause more problems in some people's cases. On an odd note, Kaori has huge fascination for spirits and loves "talking" to them... she can't actually speak to the dead (yet), but don't tell her that

Backstory:
Kaori grew up in a middle class household, where both her parents, Yuzuki and Taichi, are tea shop owners. She is the youngest of two, with her brother, Kichirou being the eldest. Her family lived on the road for the first part of Kaori's life due to her father traveling to gather tea leaves and the secrets they hide. Her father is fairly scatterbrained and can forget things, like paying bills, getting dressed, what season it is, or that he's supposed to pick up Kaori from her first day at the Academy when she was little and had no clue how to get home. Kaori's morning routine with Taichi usually involves him being startled and asking her who she is, her responding calmly, him remembering and tousling her hair before speeding off. Taichi sells one type of alcohol in his tea shop, and it's called "Taichi's Tea" (he's not sure where the name came from *cough Kaori named it*), which makes sense because the drink typically causes patrons to forget their tasks for the day. Yuzuki, on the other hand, is fairly neat and energetic, usually cleaning and repairing the shop with gusto. Due to her constantly picking up after her husband, she has little time to dote on her beloved Kaori. She does make time (somehow) to pack Kaori a lunch, complete with fruit slices and an inspirational note. Yuzuki has a vast amount of love to give to her family, and acts as the head, making the important decisions. Kichirou is the star of the family and hopes to become a renowned shinobi some day. He helped teach Kaori what she knows, and pushes her to follow her dreams. When Kaori was five and climbed her first tree, no one cheered louder than Kichirou and when Kaori spent almost every night crying because she couldn't get her point perfect, her brother was there to rekindle the flame for dance. The family as a whole is big on familial events, such as birthdays. Kaori's parents bought her a large talisman of her favorite spirit, the Baku, to keep next to her bed every night so she could have peaceful dreams. When Kichirou graduated from the Academy, Yuzuki and Kaori baked him a cake, drizzled with the Taichi Tea as a congratulatory gift!
Fun Facts about the family: Taichi is fairly short and , and Kichirou is not, which is ironic because Kichirou calls his father "Big Man" all the time; Yuzuki wanted to be a dancer when she was little, but she had massive stage fright, messed-up the choreography and kicked the lead performer, causing the show to stop abruptly

Kaori has had a lot of free time on her hands and has picked up learning about the Spirit World. She enjoys the supernatural and if something goes wrong and she can't explain it, she's certain a ghost was involved. She then performs her "Ghost Dance" to communicate with the ghost... which can get quite loud and sometimes involves pots and pans being clanged about, which she dislikes, but hey, the spirits want what they want...Usually the ghosts don't respond, so she interprets their silence herself, which may or may not be very far-fetched. 

One thing that Kaori wishes wasn't apart of her growing up...and is still alive today...is the bird her family owns. Her parents bought a bird, thinking it was a songbird, but it is far from singing. It shrieks, is kept in Kaori's room, and has so many problems. Kaori has tried getting rid of it, but it just doesn't seem to die... this bird is the only thing that can easily get a rise out of Kaori. One little sqwak and Kaori goes from calm and collected to tactical demon.

Besides all of these oddities, Kaori has had a relatively average life... save for that one time she saw a ghost in the graveyard. That was exciting!
